Hungry For God's Word

“Nothing fancy; nothing new.” Those are words written by Owen Strachan for the Reformanda website about the growth-strategy that small Bible-teaching and gospel-teaching churches are employing to see growth during the ‘Coronadom’ of 2020.

Nothing fancy; nothing new. Those words remind me of Jeremiah 6:16 where God speaks to the Israelites…

Thus says the Lord: Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.
— Jeremiah 6:16

Here at the Village, we seek to walk in the ancient paths that have been tread for us by the saints of old. Our greatest desire each week is to hear from God’s Word so that we may be instructed in how we should live this one life that Yahweh has given us. We gather as a people to give our praise to God, to plead before His throne, and to hear His Word read and explained – nothing fancy; nothing new.

When we come in this posture, we should not wonder at why He is growing our church. God will do as He pleases; our call remains the same: we wait upon our God to act. In our waiting let us not neglect to praise Him for the growth we have seen this year. All praise be to Yahweh our God!
